Open Call 2025

The application is open to all emerging and established artists working in various mediums such as writing, painting, photography, land artist, sculpting, music, curating, performing arts, and research.

Artists can apply individually, as a duo, or as a group of up to 4 people.

Schlesien - Earth Unearth Artist Retreat  is happy to provide letters or any necessary information to artists who are applying for external grants or funding.

Application Process & Payment Terms

Fill in Application

• Complete the application form and if you are applying as a duo or group, all artists have to fill in the application separately.

• To get an idea of your personal work, could you please send in a portfolio and a brief description of your artistic practice or research?

• Add a motivation letter explaining why you want to stay at Earth Unearth, what you expect from the self-directed residency and what you would like to achieve.

• Earth Unearth is a sustainable (off-the-grid) project. We ask the artists to consider this and share our vision. Tell us in a few words how you support this vision.

Pay Application Fee

• Make a payment of the 20 Euro application fee and email the proof of payment to [residency email address].

• Upon receipt of the application fee, we will review your application and the attached documents. This process may take up to two weeks, after which we will respond to you via email.

Sign the Residency Agreement and Pay the Deposit

• Upon admission, you will receive an Artist in Residence agreement for signature, which will regulate the terms and conditions of the Residency.

• Your residency will be confirmed by making an advance deposit payment of 50% of the total amount for your selected stay. The application fee of 20 Euro will be deducted from this deposit.

• Upon receipt of the deposit payment and signed Artist in Residence agreement, your residency will be booked and confirmed.

Settle Residency Fee

• The remaining 50% of the costs of your residence are to be paid 30 days before your arrival.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

• If you need to cancel your participation in the residency program more than 2 months before the scheduled start date, you will receive a full refund of your deposit.

• In the event of a cancellation within 2 months of the start date due to extraordinary circumstances (such as serious illness or a family emergency), exceptions to the refund policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis. You may be required to provide documentation to support your request for an exception.

• Please note that the residency program reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the program. If this happens, you will be offered a full refund of your deposit or the option to transfer your deposit to a future residency date.

• All cancellations must be made in writing and sent via email to [residency email address]. The date of the email will be considered the cancellation date.

Price

• 700 euro per week per person for accommodation only

  Discounts apply for larger groups and for individuals that wish to stay longer than a week
